Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, and prepare financial statements, including reconciling bank statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, ensuring timely payments, issuing invoices, and following up on outstanding payments.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, monitor budget performance, and report any variances to management.
- Process payroll, prepare and file tax returns, and ensure compliance with tax regulations by maintaining current knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and ensure compliance with relevant legal policies, practices, and standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing financial information and analysis to management as needed.
- Act as a liaison with banks and auditors, and prepare the trial balance and balance sheet.
- Assist in budget preparation and expense tracking, monitor office expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities, including handling petty cash and processing expense reports.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements, and preparing memos, letters, meeting minutes (in Nepali language), and other documents as needed.
- Maintain good communication with member communities, including institutional members, project partners, partner organizations, etc.
- Assist in organizing events, meetings, and conferences, and coordinate logistics for events.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A Bachelor's degree or above in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and generate reports.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance roles, preferably in non-government sectors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong willingness to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strong ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and transparency in all financial transactions and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with NREN members, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
