Location: Kathmandu, with frequent visit to the field areas
Reports to: Climate Change Advisor
Duration: One year with possibility of extension
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Experience in GIS software (ArcGIS and QGIS), data management and analysis, knowledge in geospatial data from various sources.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and organize large volume of Geodata, quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ability to develop GIS data analysis approaches, methodologies and databases
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex data problems using non-technical terms
- Basic knowledge and understanding of GEDSI and Protection principles in data management
- Familiarity with latest database and information system technologies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good understanding of GIS software, data management process, including data collection, analysis, storage, presentation and dissemination
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor (master degree preferred) in GIS and RS or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS coordination, including experience with citizen science and OpenStreetMap.
- Proficient in using GIS software and OpenStreetMap tools.
- Familiarity with the principles and best practices of citizen science, geoapps.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in training and mentoring staff and partners.
- Familiarity with data management and quality assurance and quality control protocols.
