Aptitude / Interest:

Professional Pre-requisites:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • Working knowledge of Virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Server / Network / Firewall
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.

 

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all Windows & Linux servers and Network appliances for performance issues and stability concerns.
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, in-house applications etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and automated approaches (whenever possible) for system administration tasks to leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required data (code repository, database, and configurations) are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Prepare various reports on IIS uptime, database usage and disk, CPU, memory usage regularly.
  • Document issues and associated resolutions to problem
  • Train and enforce system policies to end users.

 

Preferences:

  • System / Network Administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields.

 

Note: Should be available on Saturdays and Public Holidays.
