Lab Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Collecting specimens and performing laboratory investigations at clinic site or in the community as guided by SOP/standard instructions of technical unit.
  • Preparing samples for external quality assurances.
  •  Recording of the lab result using standard formats and ensuring proper reporting in ONHIS.
  •  Ensuring proper storage, transport of specimens, reagents, test kits according to the recommended procedures. Maintain cold chain of test kits, reagent and specimen as per the standard procedures.
  •  Maintenance of laboratory equipment, their daily care and safe packaging and transport of equipment while moving for the community-based testing
  • Logistic management of laboratory reagents, materials, consumables, test kits according to EpiC SOP/guidance.
  • Act as focal person of health care waste management in the clinic and ensure that management is done as per the projects SOP. Ensure EMMP compliance.
  • Supervise and support community-led testing conducted by community-based supporters and peer navigators.
  •  Coordinate to have viral load testing for eligible PLHIV on monthly basis in close coordination with case management team.

 

Duty Station: Koshi province (Birtamod)

 

Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum Lab Assistant passed from recognized Institute with minimum 2 years’ experience in PEPFAR supported HIV/AIDS, STI prevention program and having valid Council registration certificate.

 

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of MS word, PowerPoint, excel, email& Internet.
  • Knowledge of local languages will be beneficial.
  •  Local candidate will be given priority.
  • Advantage of two wheelers driving license holder.
  • Flexibility of working in off-hours (beyond standard office time) as needed.
