Reports to: Program Coordinator of HCF and Chairman of Bhitri Deurali Community Forest Users Group.
Duty Station: Himalayan Habre Center, Deurali, Taplejung, with frequent field visits as per needs of programs and projects to be implemented by HCF.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed Minimum bachelor’s degree in Education/Environment/Zoology/Forestry/Botany or equivalent with prior work experience on related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in Outdoor education.
- Good Skill and knowledge on designing outdoor education curriculum and delivering modules.
- Good skill and knowledge of filing, recording keeping, account keeping, reporting and basic documentation.
- Good verbal and written communication in both Nepali and English.
- Good in handling MS-Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, Power point).
- Skillful in searching for information on the internet, operating social media, developing news and progress reports on regular basis.
- Strong communication, coordination and team building skills.
- Prior knowledge on coordination and collaboration with local councils (Rural municipalities/municipalities) would be added values.
- Having a valid driving license of two-wheeler (preferably four-wheeler).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
HHC OPERATION AND MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate with Bhitri Deurali and other Community Forest User Groups, Red Panda Network and other local stakeholders including but not limited to the Phungling Municipality and manage the HHC services.
- Create the conducive environment to enhance the working culture for staff and settle the disputes.
- Pitch ideas and develop proposals for upscaling the HHC.
- Execute the market promotional work in close coordination with the market promotion committee.
- Manage and update the entire financial transactions of the HHC
- Maintain the quality standard of the HHC services.
- Facilitate and inform the visitors of HHC.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of the HHC.
- Supervise and manage Human Resource of the HHC.
PROGRAM PLANNING AND DESIGN
- Review existing literature on outdoor education programs from around the world to understand best practices.
- Research existing K-12 curriculum to understand how to introduce or strengthen the outdoor education component.
- Research into the existing ecology, habitats, etc. of HHC surrounding to develop a place-based outdoor education program.
- Ensure the program is developed in a participatory manner including relevant stakeholders.
- Draft a work-plan and budget to ensure the program is completed within the outlined timeframe and within the budget constraints.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION MODULE DESIGN
- Understand the existing interpretation points on the trails to develop a set of modules around the identified focus areas around HHC.
- Collaborate with CFUGs, eco-club schools to develop appropriate outdoor education curriculum design.
- Promote HHC outdoor education module in the relevant markets.
Time Duration: 1 year from the date of recruitment (with possible extension).
