Qualifications:

  •  Advance degree in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, forestry, natural resource management, international development, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in programme management in public institutions, national, regional, international organization, or intergovernmental organizations.
  •  Proven track record of proposal development and fund raising with strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge and practice of project management tools would be an added advantage.
  •  Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Applicant should be eligible to work in Nepal.

 

Competencies for the position:

  •  Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to curbing wildlife crime along with sustainable, regulated trade in wildlife species,
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to exercise sound judgement with substantive knowledge of, and technical and practical expertise working with wildlife crime related issues,
  • Possesses knowledge of organizational policies and procedures relating to the position and applies them consistently in ranges of tasks,
  •  Demonstrates good knowledge on information technology and applies it accordingly,
  • Organizes and prioritizes work schedule to meet the needs and deadlines,
  • Articulative in writing and verbal expressions with interpersonal skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust among the staff, stakeholders; a good team player and promoter of good working environment.
  •  Self-development, initiative-taking, conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and persistent when faced with difficult problems or challenges, while achieving results,
  • Sound knowledge of SAWEN member countries,
  • Facilitating and encouraging open discussion in the team with enhanced communication,
  • Creating synergies through self-control, managing conflict, and demonstrating quick and honourable judgment,
  • Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability along with equal participation,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and shows pride in work and of achievements,
  • Willingness to travel out of office in need basis to conduct and attend different events,
  •  Remains calm in stressful situations.

 

Language and other requirements:

  •  Excellence in written and spoken English is essential, while any other official language used by SAWEN member countries is welcome.
  •  Work experience in intergovernmental organization is an advantage.

 

Terms:

  •  Initial term of one year with the possibility of extension upon satisfactory demonstration of duties and responsibilities.
  • Salary and other benefits are negotiable.
