Programme Officer: Family Strengthening Programme Kavre

 

The Programme Officer will be responsible for engaging with and supporting vulnerable families, empowering them to overcome challenges, access essential resources, and strengthen their ability to create a stable, nurturing environment for their children. This role is crucial in preventing child abandonment and family breakdown.

 

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

  • Supports the Family Strengthening (FS) Coordinator in planning, implementing, report writing, and monitoring programme activities. This includes developing and maintaining Family Development Plans (FDPs) for target families and coordinating service delivery.
  • Prepares FDPs in alignment with the project log frame and graduation standard format, in close collaboration with caregivers and their age-appropriate children.
  • Maintains consistent communication with target children and families, ensuring regular information collection and documentation.
  • Provides technical support and on-site coaching to target families for income-generating activities.
  • Documents cases in assigned areas, including success stories and child-related incidents.
  • Supports the FS Coordinator and the SOS Children’s Village Kavre team in conducting feasibility studies, needs assessments, and beneficiary selection for developing new project proposals.
  • Maintains cordial relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of programme activities.
  • Collaborates with local networks and advocacy groups to advocate for the rights of target children.
  • Compiles monthly progress reports in consultation with the FS Coordinator.
  • Stays updated on project activities and changes in policies related to children at national, provincial, and local levels to ensure alignment and compliance within the programme’s scope.

 

Qualification, experience and skills:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., development studies, social sciences, public health, education, employability/entrepreneurship, etc.), with at least second division or equivalent, and at least three year of relevant work experience.
  • Awareness of and respect for cultural differences, with a non-judgmental approach when engaging with diverse populations.
  • Strong commitment to upholding ethical standards and child safeguarding principles in every interaction and activity.
  • Experience working with community-based organisations, non-profits, or educational institutions.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during programme implementation.
  • Adaptability to navigate unforeseen challenges and find appropriate solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of photography will be considered an advantage.
  • For the above mentioned positions, candidates must be Nepali citizens below 35 years of age.
