National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) is implementing the “Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Systems for Resilience in Southern Nepal” “उत्थान” program with funding support from USAID/BHA. The main objective is to strengthen the disaster risk governance and capacities of the provincial and local level and make them self-reliant at the highly-disaster-prone areas in southern Nepal. NSET seeks applications for the following positions from eligible candidates:
Appointment Type: Full Time for one year with possibility of extension.
Required Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Humanities/Sociology/Geography/Environmental Science/Public Health or related subject.
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in similar field.
Location: Madhesh Province
Language required: English, Nepali and other local languages are preferable contextual to the Madhesh Province.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support for Setting up Project Coordination Mechanism at provincial and local level
- Assist Provincial and Local Levels for development of required risk management policies, plans, guidelines, SOPs and Standards
- Assist to review/update/develop tools and guidelines for hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment at local levels
- Assist to conduct hazard risk assessment and planning at provincial and local level
- Assist for developing Risk Sensitive Land Use Plan (RSLUP) Implementation Guidelines and formulate RSLUPs
- Assist to develop a volunteer development system and mobilization mechanism at province and local level
- Assist to technical support and capacity building program for government agencies
- Support for organizing public awareness campaign
- Support for pre-positioning emergency supplies
- Support in strengthening existing Early Warning Systems and support for conducing community evacuation drills
- Performing other duties as assigned.
