Technical Specialist – Capacity Strengthening & Pre-Service Curriculum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation and oversight of capacity strengthening and pre-service curriculum for USAID Integrated Nutrition including design, implementation, evaluation, and coordination of organization development as well as revision update of pre-service curriculum.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant universities, education commissions, councils, and professional associations for revision/update on pre-service curriculum by integrating nutrition, maternal and child health/family planning (MNCH/FP) components.     
  • Organize capacity strengthening related training/workshop/orientation for USAID Integrated Nutrition staff, partner non-government organizations (PNGOs), private sectors, nutrition, and MNCH/FP service providers.
  • Ensure appropriate technical assistance required to PNGOs for planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities as well as adapting new and innovative approaches and activities.
  • Develop and update capacity assessment tools, conduct organizational assessments of PNGOs, review capacity strengthening, and localization documents, and provide regular technical updates on best practices for long-term sustainability to USAID Integrated Nutrition staff and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance to develop or revise/update the capacity strengthening strategy/plan of PNGOs and ensure its implementation
  • Establish strong relationship and develop ongoing coordination mechanism with independent training institutions, professionals/individuals, and government departments responsible for capacity strengthening in nutrition.
  • Contribute to the preparation of program reports, monthly updates, technical briefs, and other necessary documents in a thorough and timely manner. 
  • Ensure the integration of Gender and Inclusive Development principles into nutrition and health services at different levels.
  • Provide technical support for documentation of the best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.

 

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, or a related field with three to five years of relevant work experience in the development sector with an emphasis on capacity strengthening and organizational development, or a bachelor's degree with over five years of experience as mentioned above.
  • Experience in program management, organizational development, project cycle management, organizational assessment, strategic planning, training, facilitation, and local partner capacity strengthening.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible, adaptive, and open to managing time as needed for and demanded by the project and for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.  
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
